Overall Goal/Project purpose

By moving the capital airport of Mongolia to a place that is able to avoid the restriction of the lay of land, to intend the improvement of safety, reliability, and convenience of the capital airport that is important as the front door to overseas for Mongolia, an inland country, and to contribute to further economic development for the country.

Project Outputs

Relocation of the existing Chinggis khan international airport to Zuunmod site, about 50 km south of Ulaanbaatar

Major facility of the new airport:

• Passenger Terminal Building, Control tower, Fire station, Main substation, Heating plant, Water treatment plant etc.
• Runway, Apron, Taxiway, Perimeter road etc.
• Other equipment for technical and operation purpose

Economic benefits

• Benefit of Mongolian airlines

due to decrease of flight delay and cancellation

due to avoiding unnecessary circling

• Benefit of Mongolian passengers

due to decrease of flight delay and cancellation

• Benefit arising from increase of foreign tourists
